I told you I’d be back.
The book is here! (After all that stuff where I asked you all for thoughts on my early cover designs, I went in a totally different direction).
31 October is the launch date.
Because what’s more Halloween than a book about the end of the world?
Lunch Eater will be available in ebook (including on Kindle) and paperback.1
Pre-orders for ebook versions are on sale now (links below).
Books2Read (multiple vendors, take your pick)
BookSirens (join my review team - using this link you can get a free version, all I would ask is that you leave a review)
Paid subscribers (current and those that were with me during Lunch Eater being written will receive an ebook version over email in the coming week or so - that’s right, you get it early).
Of course, for those that aren’t paid and would like a copy, just reach out to me via email and ask. As I’ve said many a times, I don’t think that not being able to afford a book should be a barrier to being able to read. So hit me up, ask me, and you may just find that a copy in your inbox. But don’t ask me for paperback copies for free, just don’t do that.
I will have a few copies of the paperback that I’m happy to sell to people if they would like (though note it’s first come, first served as I won’t have many of these). Just reach out to me over email.
And now here’s the pitch…
I need your help.
Being an indie author isn’t easy and often it sucks. You write something that you think is great and the silence is overwhelming. Lunch Eater feels like it could be the one.
It might not be Disintegration in terms of what it means to me but it feels like a searing, funny wound of a book that maybe, just maybe has appeal beyond my normal ‘stupid millennial sits around and smokes’ type books.
So I need your help.
Maybe you take the time to leave a review (note: I am not asking you for a good review - just an honest one). It’s crazy how important reviews are when it comes to books in this day and age.
Maybe you lend a copy to a friend (will they remain your friend after they have read it? that is the roll of the dice you may be taking). Maybe you buy a copy for someone as a gift.
Maybe you share this update widely with anyone and everyone you know.
I’m going to be working over the next few weeks to see if any of the indie bookstores in Perth (and perhaps Melbourne, that place has fire indie bookstores) will carry it. Hell, my beloved Crow Books stocked Endless Cycle and this book is better.
But maybe you wander into your favourite indie bookstore and ask them to stock it. Maybe you go in each week in a different disguise and request it. All I’m saying is you’d look good in a moustache and a wig, and indie stores often take chances on books like this.
But definitely not chain bookstores, definitely not those. There’s only one chain bookstore worth anything and that’s the Waterstones at Piccadilly Square (seriously, the place has the best small press stock anywhere on the planet). I can’t imagine you’re going to jaunt to London (assuming you don’t already live there in which case you probably don’t spend much time in the tourist zone) simply to ask them if they stock my book.
And I hate asking this. You guys are the best readers and I thank you all for being on this journey with me. All of you who gave me copious notes about the first draft, all those who spread the word, all those who asked me questions as we went along, and those that got me on their podcast to spew words about movies and the book.
Every single one of you. I have nothing but thanks because you have made something that I usually abhor, the writing process, one of the most fun experiences I’ve had in this game.
And now the hustle begins.
P.S. This isn’t me really breaking the hiatus. That’ll be next time when I am back with Thumb War 2024.
A hardcover edition is also available through Amazon also but really, it’s about the words rather than the cover so I’m not sure why you’d go for that version.
Well done with this Sean. It's been such a pleasure to watch the whole project happen bit by bit. What a grand experiment and I can't wait to see how the final book has come together.
Can I get a hardcover for free?
